Reading notes, week 33

by , under books, reading notes

August 14: Climbing the Date Palm by Shira Glassman. Mangoverse #2. “A labor rights love story”, yes, but there are several other love stories running through the narrative, and all of them have happy endings. (Happy continuations, in fact.)

August 15: A Harvest of Ripe Figs by Shira Glassman, Mangoverse #3. Full of music! And a cute trans boy who gets a happy ending of his own because he’s smart enough to ask for it.

August 17: The Olive Conspiracy by Shira Glassman. Looks longer than it is because it has most of the Tales from Perach at the back. I’m not sure whether I think this one or A Harvest of Ripe Figs is the best; I do love Hadar and Halleli. Also, Queen Carolina is trying to do the right thing at last!

August 19: Tales from Perach by Shira Glassman (I switched to the separate volume which also has the delightful Aviva and the Aliens). Wonderful stories, some missing-scene, some supplementary to the rest of the Mangoverse books. And very trans- and queer-affirming.

Index of reading notes is here.
