Reading notes, week 50

by , under books, reading notes

Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey. Comfort reread, back to my first Valdemar love. Not by far as cringey as I was afraid it would be after years (the last time I read it must be before January 1, 2019, or I’d have logged it). I’m sure (a) that it will spark a full Arrows series reread, if not more than that, and (b) that parts 2 and possibly also 3 of the trilogy will be cringey. But (on this reading at least) this book is about a teenager growing up somewhat by force, supported by her friends; done very well.

You look like a thing and I love you by Janelle Shane. Very hilarious though perhaps already a weeeee bit dated (it’s going so fast) introduction to artificial intelligence.

Sorcery and Cecelia by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer. Another comfort reread, picked up because I wanted to be sure of ONE scene for a thing and then I couldn’t stop, of course.

Index of reading notes is here.
